World Cup reaches knockouts

We have reached the knockout stages of the World Cup. Latvia completed their clean sweep of group F, averaging over 1000 points per round, compared to their 2025 average of 850 points. Group G ended up with three teams each winning two games, so UK’s low average score saw them lose the tie break and exit the tournament. Group H saw the top two teams face off and Germany squeezed out South Korea to reverse their 2025 positions.

Latvia (Jelena Balanova and Arvis Brizga) are rewarded for their victory with a draw against the highest scoring runners-up, USA (Lucy Epstein and Jordyn Hyde), who lost against Czechia in their final group game. Thailand’s (Tawan Sunathvanichkul and Sumate Juariyamark) prize for edging out UK is a match against China (Tantan Dai and Hu Yuxuan Hu). The top average scorers in the group stage are Czechia (Jakub Ondrousek and Jan Vondruska) , who have the third hardest draw out of the runners-up, Philippines (Candice Solidarios and CJ Tan).
